OUR HISTORY

In the 1820s and 1830s, pioneer ministers of the Presbyterian faith were working diligently to establish congregations in the western part of Georgia.  Along with several other nearby churches, Loyd was established in 1837 in the Long Cane Community, where we shared a sanctuary with local Baptists.  In 1886 the congregation moved to our present site.

The namesake of our church, James Loyd, organized the first Sunday School program in Troup County.

After celebrating our 175th year in God’s service, we are increasing in membership and expanding our ministry.  With the commercial expansion of our region, certain growth will follow and we want to provide for the spiritual needs of our new neighbors. You can help us in our 21st century Christian nurture and outreach.

We invite you to become a disciple of Jesus Christ and an active part of the ministry and fellowship of this part of the Body of Christ called Loyd Church.
